How to Light a Pipe

The pipe lighter will have a wide hole in the screen instead of the several small holes characteristic of cigarette lighters. This allows the flame to be drawn into the pipe easily. Ideally, one shouldnt hold the pipe lighter perpendicular to the tobacco but, rather, at a slight angle. The flame can be easily drawn down into the bowl by lightly puffing until the tobacco reaches a temperature sufficient to sustain combustion but which is not so hot that it results in a harsh smoke.
There will be two stages of packing the pipe. After the tobacco is cleaned, making certain there are no clumps or impurities in the tobacco, fill up the bowl halfway and tamp it down. Draw through the unlit pipe to make certain that there's no resistance. Pack the bowl the rest of the way and tamp down the tobacco until it is level with the top of the bowl. Before the final smoking light, the tobacco needs to be properly dried.
Lighting the pipe is much different than is lighting a cigar or a cigarette. First, one must eliminate any moisture from the tobacco. Hold the flame above the tobacco and draw it down by puffing lightly. Get the tobacco smoking but don't light it. The tobacco will puff up and take on a shaggy appearance. Tamp it back into the bowl and level it out again.
The first lighting is to eliminate any moisture. Don't set the tobacco burning, just puff a few times until the tobacco fluffs up. After the bowl is tamped down again and tested for an easy draw, hold the lighter above the tobacco and puff a few times until the tobacco achieves a nice, cool burn. When the pipe is properly-litFree Web Content, the tobacco can burn for a long time and the smoke will be cool and mellow. Fluid-filled lighters can provide years of service and many of them come with attachments specifically for tamping and cleaning the pipe.

How to use Cedar Strips to Light a Cigar

The process starts, of course, with the cigar cutter. Remember to trim the cigar properly to ensure the best draw. How the cedar is lit is up to the smoker. Some smokers prefer to light the strip with a regular lighter while others prefer to keep the process as back-to-basics as possible and to use a match to set the strip aflame.
Cedar burns quickly and hot and provides a vibrant flame for lighting the actual cigar. Some smokers, depending on their sensitivity to taste, claim to be able to taste the cedar a bit while others say there is no taste at all. Either way, no one seems to find the experience unpleasant in any regard. The cedar is used to light the cigar as would be any other implement, the cigar is rotated, the smoker puffs until an even and hot cherry is generated.
If a smoker who objects to any chemicals contacting their tobacco is not at home, the natural choice is a butane torch lighter which, like a cedar strip, imparts no taste to the tobacco owing to the high efficiency of its burning. This is, of course, also enormously more convenient in that the smoker need not light two separate devices to get their cigar smoking.
Cedar strips offer something different for one's cigar-smoking experience. The smell of burning cedar being immediately followed by the smell of high-quality, burning tobacco is really quite pleasant. If one is truly looking for a gourmet experiencePsychology Articles, cedar strips can be a nice addition to the smoking ritual.

Lighting a Cigar

Regarding the place and time, make certain to ask any host whether it's okay to smoke cigars. Asking whether or not it's okay to smoke is usually not enough. Most people will assume that this question regards cigarettes which are an entirely different thing than a cigar. Most often, those who enjoy smoking cigars will do so in a specific room. Cigars have a wonderful aroma but it is a strong aroma. Make certain a host or establishment doesn't object before puffing on a cigar.
The host will generally offer a cutter. This is used to cut away the sealed end of the cigar so that it can be smoked. Make sure to hold the cigar over an ashtray when doing this. The scent just after cutting can be quite enjoyable, as well, so enjoy the aroma! Next comes the actual lighting which is something of an art.
A true aficionado will offer either a torch cigar lighter or a box of matches. Lighting using either method is identical. There are three faux-pas of which one must beware when lighting a cigar: lighting the cigar without first warming it; holding the cigar in the flame; and over-heating the tobacco.
First, hold the flame under the cigar and warm it by rotating it in the mouth. One can gauge when the cigar is ready to be lit when the wrapper is warm to the touch. Lighting the cigar is much different than lighting a cigarette. Instead of holding the flame to the cigar, one draws it toward the cigar by puffing slightly and continuing to rotate the cigar. This ensures an even light. Blow on the cigar to get it burning evenly.
Cigars are not inhaled as are cigarettes. Use short puffs to draw the smoke into the mouth. If the cigar wanes, a little bit of vigorous puffing is usually all that's required to get it going again. A cigar may be extinguished and relit so don't be afraid to put it out if it's more cigar than is desired at one sitting. Properly-lit cigars can burn for a long time and making sure it's done right from the start ensures an excellent smoking experience.

Tips on How to Blow Smoke Rings

When you are practicing blowing smoke rings, you are going to want to use cigarettes or cigars that have tightly packed tobacco. In most cases, you will find that the cigars have tobacco packed perfectly for blowing smoke rings. It is richer and thicker than you would find with a light cigarette and is more easily held in the mouth. If you have cigars or cigarettes that are not packed as tightly, you can pack them tighter yourself by tapping on the mouth end.
The first thing that you will want to do is to light the cigar, preferably using cigar lighters as this will ensure that you evenly light the entire tip of the cigar. You will then take a large drag from the cigar and take in as much smoke as is comfortable. You will hold this in the top front part of your throat. It may take you a little while for you to get used to this, as it is different from the normal manner in which you smoke.
Next, you want to press your tongue downward and form your lips into the shape of an "O", as though you were going to say "ooh". Try to keep the shape wide while still holding the smoke in your throat. Again, this is something that will come with practice. When you have the shape formed, you can then push small puffs of smoke toward the front of your mouth. It helps if you imagine that you are saying "uh" silently while you are doing this. This will then send those small smoke puffs out of your mouth and they should form rings that float gently away.
As you can see, blowing smoke rings is not as simple as just blowing smoke through your mouth. It takes some practice and some time to get the technique down just right. When you have figured it outComputer Technology Articles, you will find it can be a very impressive trick to show your friends when you are down at the local cigar bar or playing poker at the house.
